Mid-Semester Reflection

I have made notable changes between the start of the semester and now. I have also noticed struggles that I did not have at the beginning of the semester. I have seen changes and challenges in my study habits and transition to college.

Study Habits

I am doing well in my health, chem class, history class, and chem lab. I feel like I’m doing well in these classes because I stay on top of my work and the fact that the work isn’t really difficult.

However, I have had struggles in my Sociology class. I tried to make changes but It was difficult for me to adjust, but I feel like I could have definitely tried harder.

Transition to College

  • expectations I had coming to college

I felt like it would be hard and I wouldn’t be able to adjust to the complete change of how I did everything.

These expectations have partially come to fruition because I had a difficult time dealing with time-consuming assignments. This was a problem for me since I struggled with focus. Also, my work-life balance has been off balance. However, I know what I need to change going into the next semester now that I have experienced what college is like. In a way, college was so far easy for me when it came to being in control of everything that had to do with myself. I was surprised that college wasn’t as difficult as I thought. I haven’t had any challenges with moving away, I enjoy it.

Major

I have learned how important the sciences are for my major.

I have considered other options that are closer to my major. The more I hear people talk about it, the more concerned I am about its difficulty. However, I want it for my career, so I don’t want to give up on it, especially this early. Some majors that I’m interested in minoring in are marine biology, biology, or psychology minors.

Connecting to Campus

I have been involved in SGA, Ebony Impact, and the Good Girls Movement. I chose to get involved because they all shared a similar community that I was looking for.
