Week 15 Journal

Digital Forensics | Davin Teo | TEDxHongKongSalon– YouTubeLinks to an external site.Watch this video and think about how the career of digital forensics investigators relate to the social sciences. Write a journal entry describing what you think about the speaker’s pathway to his career.

To me, the speaker states his career life was a crooked path. He said when he was alive, there wasn’t much to advance in the line, you were either there or not there. To me, this represents a key idea regarding the best career path to choose. For me, testing the waters is not as meaningful as going headlong. He then informs us that although he’s an accountant by profession, he started doing IT work when a business needed assistance with their networks. Although he was an accountant, he grew more and more fascinated with IT work. This decision to deviate from his original path is proof that even if you’re highly trained in something, you can still explore new grounds. This deviation led him to start Australia’s first national digital forensic practice, and he never looked back. I believe the speaker’s journey, ending up in a career that he loves, is what we all wish for.
