There are several areas of interest to me in the NICE Workforce Framework, but the top two would be in the analyze and training/education categories. Any of the analysis subcategories would be interesting to me. I am good at reviewing large amounts of data to extrapolate the critical elements and I have excellent attention to detail. I also have strong writing and communication abilities as well as the ability to make connections between similar or even seemingly unrelated aspects of a topic. All of these skills would be helpful for jobs in cybersecurity requiring analysis. I am also interested in the teaching/education aspect of cybersecurity because I enjoy teaching others and helping them understand and make connections. I love seeing that lightbulb moment when something that was confusing them suddenly makes sense.
One area that really doesn’t interest me is the legal branch of cybersecurity. The study and application of laws as they apply to cybersecurity just don’t appeal to me. I don’t always like the gray areas that can come with the law and how things don’t always seem to turn out ethical and/or fair for the situation. I have strong ethics and a sense of right/wrong, and I think I would become extremely frustrated with the legal system because it is not always that simple. I also don’t like arguing/negotiating, which would be required for these specialties.
