Why are you interested in cybersecurity technology?

Cybersecurity technology is a highly needed career, cybersecurity ensures online safety as we know already. It interests me very much because I have always been more intrigued with the idea of working with criminals in some way or another. I like the idea of possibly being able to protect networks and devices from being attacked. I would like to get a job with the  government so I am able to focus more on threats and risk management. Although, cybersecurity seems to be a very diverse career. I have come to know that you can do a lot with a cybersecurity bachelor’s degree, even having it as a minor. According to Champlain College, there are a multitude of different fields you can work with, transportation, financial institutions, electricity, etc. Being in a field like cybersecurity it seems like it is constantly changing and facing new challenges. Furthermore, the pay seems to be very fitting for the type of work I will be doing since I enjoy learning about it so much, in the Chaplain College article it states, “The average salary in a job that requires information technology (IT) skills is 50% higher than the average private-sector American job. In 2016, the median pay for a cybersecurity job was $92,600 per year, as compared to a median annual wage of $37,040 for all workers.” Continuing that idea, “Between 2007 and 2013, postings for cyber security jobs grew 74%, and according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment in the field is projected to grow 18% from 2014 to 2024 – much faster than the average for all occupations”. To wrap this up, I am very interested in cybersecurity for the chance to pick your more interesting focus, as mine is more government based. Along with the continuous advancements in the career and endless engaging challenges.
