Describe four ethical issues that arise when storing electronic information about individuals
When storing electronic information about information, there are four ethical issues that arise. Over the years it has become easier for an individual to store their information, the most popular being the cloud presented on the iPhone. The cloud downloads your information presented on your Apple device and saves it into oblivion, so really how safe is it? With that being said, privacy and confidentiality is a huge issue. Having any type of information on any type of system is at risk of being hacked or phished. Unfortunately, not a lot of people are aware of the risks when using electronic devices and putting information out there. With the possibility of different risks occurring it is important to limit the usage of computing classified information on your device. Although if you must have important information on your device it is important to have the correct software installed to help protect that information. Another ethical issue that arises is, having other people’s information on your device. This seems to be a common issue, especially when it comes to logging into someone’s account like Netlfix or something for one time but you continue to stay logged in. This will cause the person who gave their information to the other to be concerned and change their password more frequently. Another ethical issue is data breaches occurring but people not making it known to give knowledge to others. This means when someone becomes aware of an issue occurring they don’t know what to do so they do not get the help and security they need. Many people don’t know when a cyber attack is occurring to them until something weird pops up or their information disappears. The last ethical issue in which arises when strong electronic information about individuals occurs is, to have consent to access whatever it may be. All in all, there are quite a few ethical issues that arise when storing any type of personal information electronically. When accessing any electronically there is always a risk, people just need to be prepared for it.
