First, I created an outline of what I wanted to say in English and analyzed how I would begin to translate. I began researching new words I could incorporate into the project, like 自身 meaning self confidence. After that, I started my first draft of the outline in Japanese and got it reviewed by my peers, there was of course a couple of mistakes that they helped me discover. The second draft consisted of doing two versions です/ます form (soft style) and だ form (stiff style). In this draft I actually learned a lot about stiff style! For example, I learned that だ comes after nouns and な adjectives, I previously misunderstood the usage. I was not fully comfortable with stiff style prior so I am grateful for the experience. Finally, I perfected my second draft and added the final touches with the help of my 先生.
