The way I watch sports has changed over the past 5 years. I used to try and watch every game on TV and catch everything on cable. As time passes though life has become a lot more busy and the way I watch sports has shifted to streaming it more now. I can no longer sit down and watch games all the way through, highlights were made for us to watch the games’ most exciting moments. Now I stream most of the games and highlights between the NBA and the NFL; I think streaming is a much better offer because you can watch it anywhere and get all the content from your mobile device. I think that the way we consume the sports media will continue to change with people leaning more and more into the streaming of games, as we see with amazon prime broadcasting games now for their subscribers. We will more than likely see a continued emphasis in streaming games and making it available for everyone. Sports leagues like the NFL and NBA know that eyes make money and so they are both trying to take advantage of the ability to access games from anywhere. I also think that technology such as drones and cloud based computing will help capture moments at new angles and sequences that we have yet to see. I also expect competition to increase, different companies are continuing to grow and they want the partnership and rights to broadcast games such as amazon. What other companies could try and gain rights to broadcast games? If I could wave a wand over the communication landscape I would look at the voice of athletes. In recent years we have seen more and more athletes with podcasts voicing their opinions on topics. My wish is already in effect. Athletes are starting to have a voice, people like Kevin Durant and Draymond Green make headlines with their voice and their ability to be media ringmasters and are big names in the sport of basketball. I want athletes like these guys to be able to speak their minds without penalty.
