As I continued to communicate with Mr.Williams over the past couple of weeks, I learned a lot more about the race and how busy life is once the season gets going. Mr. Williams has been very busy with day to day tasks as reporter for the Panthers, by the amount he tweets and his always at the facility the life is busy. Mr. Williams has told me a lot of different tips and information to remember and his number one thing he emphasized was that this career becomes your life. Another thing he told me was that capturing the story and formulating a good narrative around a player takes you a long way. With all this information that Mr. Williams was telling me, I thought about the ability to make a broadcast journalism workshop. This in turn allows me to collect information I have learned and give back to other students trying to better understand the field as much as I am. The Sports Industry is always looking for new writers to expand on the stories told from players and this would be a great opportunity for students to come together and better understand and exchange ideas. This also is going to turn into a podcast so something like “Meet the Beats workshop”, something that unites future reporters or media members together. I think Mr. Williams also with such a busy schedule and season and continues to always be on the move, we can broadcast the workshop and have it sort of either live streamed or a podcast that can be listened too. I think accessibility is key so having the ability to listen to it on the go is a big thing for me. The workshop will be used to give those interested in the field of journalism and broadcasting a broader opportunity to sharpen their skills and meet new connections and people that can take them a long way.
