Computers have made the world safer because we now have advanced security systems and cameras to help prevent and solve crimes. We have different forms of security alarms on cars, stores, and even our homes. Recently, there are new doorbells that can record and send a video to your cellphone at the moment any motion is detected. We can also use our cell phone’s GPS to track the locations of close friends and family members to ensure that they are safe. Another way computers have improved the world is modern technology in hospitals which assists doctors and nurses in saving lives. Computers have also helped improve education because students get access to an endless amount of scholarly resources online. Even though computers help benefit millions of lives, they are harmful for numerous different reasons. Computers and cell phones have been studied and proven to be bad for human posture. Prolonged usage of technology could lead to muscle or joint pains. Consistently using technology for a long time could lead to eyesight problems and even insomnia. Technology is dangerous because it is addictive as people commonly text and drive behind the wheel. Social media and other things found on the internet could be harmful to an individual’s mental health. There have been numerous stories where bullies or internet trolls have targeted young children or those who are not mentally stable, encouraging them to commit suicide. Computers are unsafe because the dark web exists where criminals and hackers on the internet thrive. With the internet, there are dangerous crimes online aside from just hacking such as child pornography, human trafficking, and the sale of illegal contraband. It is important to be mindful of what you post on the internet because once something is posted, it will most likely remain online forever. Posting any personal confidential information could be dangerous for an individual’s safety.
