1: Money. Everyone wants it and some do not care how they get it.
2: Political. Because Power and Money go hand in hand.
3: Revenge. When a bad actor does not get the money or power they want, then revenge is the next step.
4: Recognition. Our world seems to be turning into a “look at me I am special” type of world.
5: Entertainment. I think that, especially for younger digital citizens, falling into the trap of “just doing it for fun” is all too real.
6: Boredom. I struggle with the concept of committing crime just because of boredom. I think their would be some other motivating factors as well.
7: Multiple Reasons. I only listed this as last because in my mind you can overlap multiple issues but there tends to always be a core motivation.
