The NICE framework is compromised into categories, specialty areas, and work roles. Categories containing 7 total, with 33 specialty areas and 52 work roles. Breaking these down really helps and encourages us, students, to be able to analyze and focus on what role we really want to take down later in life with cybersecurity. To start off some areas that do not appeal to me whatsoever are definitely analysis and collect and operate. I am just not one to sit there and analyze and crunch a bunch of numbers together or look for a different pattern within all the data. That’s never where I’ve seen myself in cybersecurity and it doesn’t strike my interest as well. The next category collect and operate also doesn’t catch my eye, I wouldn’t say it is as bad but I still do not see myself doing that in the future. Collecting all the data and evidence and whatnot is something I can pass on if I had to do it or it was my only opportunity I would take it up but in this case, I have the choice. Now the areas that I would love to pursue and have a career in are definitely oversee and govern, as well as protect and defend and even a little of securely provision. Oversee and govern is my top choice as I have always been a strong leader even in times of panic and I feel as if you can lead a group of members to success you can do anything. Now I understand to get there you have to climb your way up the ladder and that is why I have chosen Protect and Defend. Vulnerability Assessment and Management really stood out to me as I love looking for vulnerabilities within a network or software or whatever it is. Using that to build up to oversee and govern would be my ideal career for cybersecurity.
