Social Media Disorder Scale

When taking the test I noticed a lot of the questions were on more of the extreme side of social media addiction and bad habits of having social media. On the test, I scored a 1.0 and according to the test if it was a 5.0 or higher I would have some sort of an addiction to social media. This was not a surprise to me as I never have been crazy obsessed with social media and never have had a huge craving for it either. The questions being asked were fair questions although I wasn’t a fan of how all of them were so extreme to the point where it was like has social media made you and your family dislike each other or caused this many problems between you and someone. They could’ve mixed in at least a few more just casual questions about how often you use social media or even just how many social media apps you have. I believe different patterns are found around the world because of where they have access. You might not have as much social media access or even technology in third-world countries as you do in America or Japan. This is what causes the offset pattern of where people can be addicted to social media vs where people don’t even have access to it. Overall this test has shown that even though you own plenty of social media apps and even use them every day that there is a huge difference between actually being addicted to it and just using it as average everyday use.
