How has cyber technology created opportunities for workplace deviance?
First to define what workplace deviance is a type of behavior that violates the organization’s rules or norms and can threaten the organization in a negative way or the other people around them. With this being said there is plenty of opportunity that cyber technology could create workplace deviance. The main one is someone hacking their own company out of spite of being mad about something. Another thing could be a person shutting down their own company security system to let an attack take place to shut them down or really harm them just because of some way they are feeling. This could then leave them open to having information taken from them or damages that could cost a lot of money. For example if that happened to a small business from someone doing this inside of it that could shut them down good depending on how bad the attack was. Also with this type of attack it is a lot harder to find the person or people that are doing it, so therefore that has created even more opportunities for this to occur which is not good. Workplace deviance occurs everyday with any company I think, but with it being in this technology field and the damage it can do has made it a lot easier for people to get away with this crime. Some people have reasons for doing these things to their business or organization that they work under which still is not the right thing to do at all. Companies also have to make sure they keep a look at all the people that are authorized to have very important information that could potentially shut them down or do harm towards them. Overall cyber technology has made it for these types of workplace deviance to take place in businesses.
