CYSE 200- Entry 13

How should we approach the development of cyber-policy and -infrastructure given the “short arm” of predictive knowledge?

In my opinion I feel that cyber-policy and the infrastructure should be approached in a simple way not very complex. For example with basketball, with having a good defense it makes your offense better and you will win because of this most of the time. That is a way you could look at this. The problem is with some people and some businesses they don’t take the measures that they should with security. With cybersecurity being such a big branch in technology nowadays people should start paying more attention to it. If you are not prepared for the worst case scenario to happen then when it does happen you won’t know what to do with yourself. By constantly improving the cyber policies as much as we can this makes it a lot safer for users. Developers should always be looking to constantly improve and update their product because we deserve for them to do this if we are going to continue to keep using it. Cyber infrastructure can be connected to cyber policy in a way. Cyber infrastructure deals with the network and connected systems, and also files within the cyber medium. We know that infrastructure is always a very important play in the world with technology especially. If you do not have a very secure infrastructure this can be vital to risking citizens’ livelihood. We need to make sure we are making the infrastructure as secure and safe as possible as technology keeps advancing. Also the “short arm” of predictive knowledge refers to ethical conduct of any situation being immediate and viewpoint of things. With anything that is new or created we know there will always be vulnerabilities at some point but you want to try to limit them as much as possible. Overall as we continue forward in society with cyber policy and the infrastructure we need to do better in these spots to make it safe.
