Rank the motives from 1 to 8 as the motives that you think make the most sense (being 1) to the least sense (being 7).  Explain why you rank each motive the way you rank it.

1.Multiple reasons In my opinion is the one that makes the most sense. The reason I say this is because there can be many different factors that come into play with an individual and the cybercrime they commit or crime in general. For example a psychological view and if they want revenge for some reason or just to make money because of how their life is going.
2. Boredom is the second one that makes the most sense to me. With everything going on nowadays and people being home more they are really bored and have nothing to do so some tend to do bad things online with this time on their hands. Especially ones the pandemic first hit.
3. For Money is the third one that stands out to making the most sense. We all know that people want money and some can get it easily by doing these crimes that they do online or in general. With reading the article It makes sense what most of them spend their money on, the only thing that threw me off was prostitutes which I did not expect.
4. Recognition makes a decent amount of sense. I see that some people will tend to do some of these things to feel recognized for once in their life even if it is something bad they just want that feeling.
5. Revenge makes sense. An individual will do a cyber crime or crime to just get revenge on someone or a business for an example. Revenge might feel good for them even though afterwards they could feel bad for this.
6. Political, this can deal with elections that happen and an individual or multiple people could end up trying to hack something to make it go the way that they want it. Around election time or with certain events like this, there are a lot of cyber crimes happening.
7. Lastly Entertainment, I don’t see where this makes sense at all in my opinion. The article we read said the man scraped 700 million profiles for fun. That is insane to do, I get it may be entertaining for him to do and that he can make money from the information that he gathers. But it just doesn’t make sense to do such a crime.
