How do engineers make cyber networks safer?

Engineers make cyber networks safer by being the backbone of the system. They are able to create and constantly improve them to make them safer against attacks. Engineers are the ones that are constantly on the lookout to see if anyone that should not have access is gaining it. They are the ones that are keeping an eye on the entire network and coming up with new protocols to make it better. If there is infirmity in the networks, they are able to react quickly and efficiently to fix what is broken. Engineers are educated about the enemy, they know what to look for when there is a possible attack and how to prevent it in the first place. They are in never ending research to figure out ways of attacking before the hacker does himself. They have developed skills in digital forensics, security policy, and network defense. During my research, I found a comparison that I believe matches nicely. Engineers are like doctors to the security world. They are able to identify an issue and are trained to handle the types of situations that are thrown at them, just as if it were a doctor in the medical field. Their everyday job is to create and execute various types of network solutions that keep information systems safe and secure against hackers, cyber attacks, and many other situations. They are regularly monitoring and testing systems and networks to make sure they are working smoothly and are up to date. Cyber engineers are able to design secure systems at the interface of operational technology and information technology. They are able to work with other departments and be educated in order to build the safest wall against an attacker. Engineers look into the trends of recent hacking and are able to update and prevent the new trends from hacking them. Their field of work is always changing and they are well prepared.
