Recently Jon Gruden, the former coach of the Las vegas raiders resigned as head coach due to using racial and homophobic slurs in many emails. These emails have caused a lot of issues around the league because there are other big names in the NFL being brought into this scandal. The owner of the Washington Football team, Dan Synder is being brought into this scandal for being involved with these emails. Public Relations plays a big part in any organization in trying to keep a glowing public image to the people. There has been a lot of heat on the Washington Football Team because of this scandal, but mainly on Dan Synder since he’s’ the owner of a national football team. A few days ago the Washington Football Team announced they will be retiring the great Sean Taylor who died November 7th, 2007 in an armed robbery in his home in Miami. In my opinion, I think this a huge Public relation stunt to take the heat off Dan Synder. They are using one of the most legendary Redskins players of all time as a campaign to try and take turmoil off the Washington Football team and Dan Synder. This wasn’t an effective campaign because most Washington fans are not happy about them retiring Sean Taylor’s jersey because it feels in-genuine. If you look on social media a lot of the comments under the news of Sean Taylor’s jersey retirement, most Washington fans are very upset because it feels like they are only doing this so the heat is taken off Dan Synder. A lot of fans are also upset because they gave the news of Sean Taylor’s jersey retirement three days before the game so a lot of fans weren’t able to purchase tickets or attend the game. The Washington Football Team president Jason Wright released a statement saying they have to do better because they know the Washington Football nation as a whole is genuinely not happy with the team and the owner. This was a campaign and a public relation stunt to try and take all the eyes of Dan Synder for his email scandal.
