In today’s world, consuming sports has become very easy due to social media platforms such as Instagram, Twitter, snapchat and new apps like tik tok, these apps produce so much sports media where you don’t even need to watch ESPN in the mornings before school, work or whatever you have going on in your day. I remember when I was back in middle and High School, I used to wake up 45 minutes early so I could watch a sports recap from the previous night. During that time I wasn’t really on any social media platforms so watching ESPN in the morning was how I used to Consume sports. The way I consume sports now is so easy. Having social media such as twitter, instagram and snapchat, I can literally find out about anything going on in the sports world by just opening any one of those apps. Another way I consume sports is by streaming games on the internet. Let’s be real, we are all broke college students who don’t like to pay for things and as college students we love free stuff, so if we can stream sports for free we will do that. The three years I have been in college, I truly believe that every time I have watched big sports events, it has always been through streaming unless we go out to the buffalo wild wings or any local bars around Old Dominion to catch the games. Even when I watch games at friends’ houses around the area, they are always streaming sports events too. I think it’s crazy how far sports media and the way we consume sports has changed in the past 20 years. I am a facilities assistant for ODU and most of the time when I walk into my bosses office he’s listening to a sports radio. He’s a very old fashioned guy, I just think it’s crazy because I feel people my age would never listen to a sports radio because we have apps on our phone where we can pull up any information within seconds.
