Review Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs and explain how each level relates to your experiences with technology. Give specific examples of how your digital experiences relate to each level of need.

The psychological theory Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs is a belief by Abraham Maslow that states human motivation is broken into five needs physiological, safety, love and belonging, esteem, and self-actualization. When I compare psychological needs to my experiences in the digital world, I think about how internet is no longer a luxury, but a necessity I need to do things like pay rent to have a shelter, or even buying groceries for my family. For the need of safety, we can relate it to the alarm system in my home and car that protects my property. In support of the need of love and belongingness, social media is my outlet to stay connected with my family and the world. The need of self esteem in the cyber space us satisfied by receiving emails from peers at my place of employment praising my hard work. Technology aids my self-actualization need by allowing me to advance my education online, or even writing in my digital journal on my phone. Technology supports all of these needs and has a huge impact on my journey in life.
