After watching the video, write a journal entry about how you think the media influences
our understanding about cybersecurity

After watching the YouTube video, I got a full understanding of how movies have
portrayed hacking as a majestical and effortless process. These hackers in the movie have been
portrayed as to be geniuses who are able to gain access to any in every system that exist on this
earth. It gives off the illusion that anybody is able to become a hacker. in creating this thrilling
narrative most of the media presents the wrong facts about how and its processes. When you
look at the YouTube video, you see that the the security analyst was able to easily pick apart the
movies and shows to bring awareness to the wrong things that are being presented about cybersecurity and hacking. The fact is still that hacking is more complex and involves a lot more technical knowledge that might not be as simple as it is being portrayed. While the scenarios are entertaining to watch, it doesn’t express the magnitude of how dangerous and catastrophic hacking can be. The positive side of the media influence surrounding hacking is that it allows people to situations where hackers are being persecuted for the crimes which makes people less influence to participate in the cyber crimes.
