I watched Davin Teo’s TEDx talk about his journey to becoming a digital forensic investigator, and I found it really interesting. He started out in accounting, which seems pretty different from the tech heavy world of digital forensics. But as he explained, the skills overlap more than you’d think like problem-solving and paying attention to details.
What stood out to me was how much his work connects with the social sciences. A big part of his job is understanding why people do what they do figuring out motivations behind fraud or how someone tried to hide evidence. It’s not just about the tech side of things, but also about human behavior and psychology.
I liked how his career shows that sometimes, our paths aren’t straightforward. He didn’t plan to go into digital forensics, but his curiosity and skills led him there anyway. It made me think about how every job, even ones that seem super technical, still ties back to people and society in some way.
