Article #1
Cybercrime in Iraq
Social Sciences:
The article I chose relates to a social science of economics. The article primarily deals with how
a lack of policy around cybercrime can lead to massive damages for the economy.
Research Question:
“Iraq’s digital industry is currently ungoverned, making it one of the most open and vulnerable.”
(CyberCrime Laws, P2)
How Research was Gathered:
The researchers used qualitative research and data collection instruments to analyze what
legislation Iraq currently has in place for cybersecurity.
Types of Data and Analysis:
The main kind of data was legal experts from Iraq and the policy they referenced.
Powerpoint Presentation:
The powerpoint presentation relates to the article because since Iraq doesn’t have any
cybercrime policy it’s much easier for cyber criminals to commit cyber crime.
Marginalized Groups:
This topic relates heavily to marginalized groups because it primarily deals with policy in Iraq.
Contributions to Society:
The study contributes greatly to society because it may influence Iraq cyber security policy for
the better.
Article #2
Victimizations by Deepfakes in the Metaverse.
Social Sciences:
This article primarily focuses on how deepfakes can seriously affect someone mentally. So the
social science we are dealing with is psychology.
Research Question:
“The potential increase of users in the metaverse may open the door to more victimization.”
(Deepfakes in Metaverse, P12)
How Research was Gathered:
A panel of 8 experts was asked for their opinion.
Types of Data and Analysis:
Most of the data is personal communications from the experts and the research studies
compiled the data and took out some highlights.
Powerpoint Presentation:
This article relates highly to the powerpoint presentation because it talks about victimization.
The powerpoint as well talks about how victims may be prioritized because of factors outside
their control.
Marginalized Groups:

One of the things the article talks about is how certain marginalized groups may be at a higher
risk for deep lakes in the metaverse.
Contributions to Society:
While many of the things talked about in this article have not come to pass yet. The things it
talks about are important and will affect many people in the future.
Conclusion:
In looking at both of the articles we can see that cybercrime may disproportionately affect
marginalized groups. Especially if proper policy has not been passed to protect that group.
