For assignment five, students were asked to do five kind acts for strangers over a course of a week, then to write about each of those kind things and explain what it was, how did it make us feel, how did the stranger respond to the kind act, and would we make it a daily habit. From this assignment I learned that small acts of kindness for someone you know or don’t know can make them feel better even if it is only temporary. It doesn’t have to change their entire life, but just change a moment in their life. Since I am an EMT I go out on my shifts and assist strangers all the time with life threatening emergencies to small emergencies. There was one time when we got a call to an elderly women’s how who was having kidney failure. After assisting her and getting ready to transport her to the hospital, her sister asked could I back her car out of the driveway because she did not know how. I backed her car from out of the driveway and the women was so grateful. She seemed so happy from me just doing something she struggled to do. I realized that the small things you do for someone can make them just as happy as the big things.

For assignment 4, A Styles of Love Questionnaire was taken, and a corresponding score was given based on the answers selected. From this a two-page paper had to be written discussing our scores and what they meant, did we agree with the assigned score, and does your score accurately reflect your current relationship. From this assignment I learned the types of love that I do and do not identify with. I learned from the questionnaire that I am more of impulsive person when it comes to love, I do not like to mislead my partners, and I also see my partners goals and ambitions as a key part of our relationship. In high school on Valentine’s Day my psychology teacher asked us to write down traits we thought we possessed within a relationship. When doing that assignment, I had no idea of the types of love there were and that you could be higher in one category of love than another. In the assignment I wrote down basic words such as loving, caring, spontaneous, etc. just to get the point across that I was romantic. But if I were to have done this questionnaire my answers would have been a lot more in depth and I would’ve even written down some forms of love I lack in.

For assignment 2, a two-page paper on how six or more pictures represent yourself in different aspects. The description of the pictures is supposed to be written from your perspective. From this assignment I learned how to analyze pictures of myself and be able to recall feelings and personality traits. In a high school photography class, I had to take a picture of myself and put it in a collage that described me. Assignment 2 would have definitely helped with this photography assignment because I would have been able to analyze myself and view myself from a different perspective to capture my true self. My collage was filled with things I liked but it didn’t represent me for who I am.

From assignment 1, a paragraph consisting of a description, example, and a reason why each of the four heuristics can be incorrect was required. The heuristics include representativeness, availability, anchoring and adjusting, and status quo. I learned that the availability heuristic is when a person makes an assumption based on a memory that is easy recalled by the mind, and even though it can be easily accessed by the mind it can still be a wrong inference. I learned in my EMT class the signs of bell’s palsy and a stroke, which have similar symptoms. During a scenario I was given the symptoms of the patient and from what I could immediately recall I thought it was bell’s palsy, but it was a stroke. So, from reflecting back on that time I can concur that just because information is easy to recall does not mean it is always correct. The following picture was chosen because it represents the difference between bell’s palsy and a stroke.
