Queer Application

Queer Theory allows a reader to read a text outside of the heterosexual narrative in which the text is inferred. It opens the minds, to reading a text and being able to read it with a different lens than the text is viewed upon initial reading.  Queer Theory helped me look at Porphyria’s Lover with a queer lens, separate from the ideal of it being a heterosexual text. It kind of opened my eyes to, what if Porphyria’s Lover was a woman, who was doing these unspeakable things, and committed murder in such an aggressive fashion instead of male, and how that in itself might change the text. Which personally I thought was neat, because why couldn’t the lover/murderer be a woman?
