Coming into Spanish 1 almost sixteen weeks ago I had little to no experience with any language other than English. Being that Spanish speaking persons make up a large percentage of the population, I thought it would be very useful to my hopefully Nursing career to expand by patient care by learning the language. After the past three months of just starting with the basics, then moving onto things like greetings, verbs and their endings, I feel very confident in my abilities to understand a basic conversation to communicate needs with a patient of mine. I have included my very first video and then the last one I did for comparison.
The Spanish culture has really helped me grow in many ways but the one that stands out is in love. Not the type of love for my wife but more so the type of love for one another. There is so much rejoicing and celebrating life and one another which is not seen in the standard “American Dream” culture that we live in here in the United States.
