Assignment 5 was a fun assignment! For this assignment, we were to perform 5 acts of kindness over the course of two weeks. Each of these acts of kindness were performed on someone random who we did not know. Each one of the 5 acts were rewarding on one way or another!
Similar to some of our other assignments in this course, Assignment 5 led to personal growth and fulfillment. It was a hard determination of whether the person’s reaction was better, or the feeling taken from performing the kind deed. However, after thinking of the assignment’s actual purpose, to pay it forward, it was an easy choice. The feeling taken from helping someone in need or doing something kind and unexpected was very rewarding. I will be doing more selfless acts moving forward and teaching my children to do the same!

Assignment four was about the different styles of love; Pragma, Storge, Eros, Agape, Mania, and Ludus. For our assignment, we were to take the questionnaire and calculate our scores. After determining our scores, we described if we agreed with each or did not agree and why. This assignment was very interesting and self-reflective.
For assignment four, I enjoyed thinking critically about myself and my tendencies when determining if I agreed with my love style scores. I just recently started a relationship with my best friend of three and a half years, so this exercise came right in time for where I am in my love life. It also allowed me to be more open-minded and forgiving because I too am guilty of the things I find wrong in him from time to time. This has been my favorite assignment so far!

Assignment two was based around self-reflection. This self-portrait essay was very interesting in that it allowed us to see how we truly viewed ourselves. I appreciated this assignment because it made me stop and take a look at the things that I should be proud of. I developed a better view of my accomplishments through this assignment.

This picture represents an accomplishment- something that assignment two brought light to.

I
I chose this picture to represent how the mind reaches in multiple directions when trying to look for reasoning and validation while making a decision.
Assignment 1 required learning and analyzing each of the four heuristics: the representativeness heuristic, availability heuristic, anchor and adjust heuristic and the status quo heuristic. Each one of these include different factors and influences and account for a different way of thinking. Out of the four heuristics I find myself using the availability heuristic the most. The availability heuristic occurs when a person pulls from prior knowledge and memory to make a decision based on the first thing that comes to mind.
Learning about the four heuristics was very interesting to me because I never realized just how much assumption goes into our way of thinking and decision making. I found that it was quite easy coming up with my original examples for each heuristic because of how frequently I use them in my own decision making process. The easiest example was for the representativeness heuristic. After gaining this knowledge and self reflecting on how often I use it in my own life, I will be sure to incorporate more factual evidence in my decision making process and rely less on assumption moving forward.
