Technological resources like computers, have benefitted our society in many ways ultimately improving our critical infrastructure. One way computers has helped us globally is healthcare. Involving computers in healthcare has helped healthcare employees store and input patient data, which makes it easier to access certain patients information and identify diagnoses and issues of patients. Computers have also improved medical technology which makes operations run more smoothly and efficient. It also helps doctors act on hard and complex procedures and operations so that they won’t make any errors. Medical devices like hearing aids, alert devices, and pacemakers have improved patient’s heath and overall performance. Computers have also improved transportation. Computers can control traffic by using traffic lights, cameras and speed cameras to prevent dangerous activity on the roads and ensure individuals’ safety. Transportation technology is also used for navigation like compasses, GPS, and radars in all types of transportation. Computers also make it easier for airport, cruise, rideshare, and transit employees to log, input, access, and identify consumers information, which can prevent consumers from not paying for services and use transportation services illegally. Computer have also contributed to emergency services. Computers have made it easier to contact police, fire departments, ambulances, and other social services, in which they arrive in a timely fashion using the users’ location signal from their call. Computers also improve communication between the user and dispatcher, providing important information so whichever social service can expect what is to happen once they reach the users’ location. However computers can be harmful as well. Computers also presents cyberattacks, threats, risks, and vulnerabilities to which can change computer systems and exploit them. Also, the reliability on computers can be dangerous causing department or organization to destruct if computer systems are not working properly. Lastly, hackers can spread disinformation to individuals which can alter public opinion.
