Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs is a type of motivational theory represented by a five-tier pyramid model explaining the essential human needs for every individual. The lowest level of the pyramid talks about psychological needs like, sleep, food, water, shelter, clothing, and breathing. My experiences with technology can relate to this since I order food on food delivery apps as well as grocery delivery apps. I also order clothes like graphic t-shirts and jeans online from popular retail stores. I use my phone to track my sleeping as well to make sure I get enough sleep each day. The second level of the pyramid talks about safety and security like health, social ability, property, and family. I use social media to talk to my friends and family. I used my computer to look up my medical records and physicals to apply for a sports team or to schedule an appointment with the doctor. Love and Belonging is the third level of the pyramid model talking about friendships, sense of connection, and family. I use my phone to call or text my friends and family to connect with them on topics, ideas, and issues. Self-esteem is the fourth level of the pyramid model which talks about confidence, achievement, and respect of others. A college administrator emailed to inform me that I had was invited to the first-year ceremony, where I would receive an award for having a GPA of 3.5 or higher. The top level of the pyramid is self-actualization including creativity, morality, acceptance, meaning, and inner potential. I express my creativity through video editing apps, graphic design apps, and photo editing apps.
