The role of a Cybersecurity Analyst

As a cybersecurity analyst, this specific career takes on many roles for companies, businesses, organizations, and individuals. Cybersecurity analysts analyze computer systems to discover new threats, vulnerabilities, and risks that may leading to a potential cyberattack. They analyze computer systems with tools and software, then they report the results to the corporation their working for so they can engage in risk management to fix and patch vulnerabiltes as well as test those patches. Cybersecurity analysts also have the role of plan and installing security tools as well as measures that work best for the corporation as well as the information security team. Tools that are usually implemented in security plans are firewalls, antivirus software, encryption methods, two factor authentication, threat scanning, and VPNs (virtual private networks). Best measures and pratices are also installed like identifying and avoiding phishing emails as well as fishy websites. Lastly, cybersecurity analysts take the role of teach employees the basics of cybersecurity and the proper practices and measures to take when working in their corporation. 

 Social science research and principles for Cybersecurity Analyst

Cybersecurity analyst research and refer to principles during investigations as well as risk management. One thing that cybersecurity analyst have to determine is a hacker’s motive for executing a cyberattack and engaging in cybercrime. Hackers have mutiple motives and reasons for engaging in a cybercrime and initiating cyberattacks. Money is one reason since hackers may want to get rich quick instead of work a regular job which pays limited amounts of money each hour. Recognition is a another reason that hackers may commit cybercrime because they want bragging rights on accomplishing a complex cyberattack against a corporation. Entertainment is another reason because hackers may think it’s fun or entertaining that they’re messing with a corporations’ computer system. Behavior theory is explained by researchers as a another reason for hackers engaging in cybercrime as hackers may have been  influenced by their family, peers, and social media to start a life of cybercrime. Cybersecurity analysts also have to research new trend and issues in cybersecurity to predict hackers’ behavior and motives for executing cyberattacks as well as how hackers might try to enter corporations’ computer systems. 

Relation toward marginalized groups and society overall

Cybersecurity analysts relate to other marginalized groups and society as a whole as well. One thing that cybersecurity analysts strive to do is be able to provide cybersecurity training, measures, and tools toward marginalized groups as well as help individuals of marginalized groups protect themselves from cyber threats and attacks intiated by hackers. By doing this, every individual can have proper protection from cybercrime instead of individuals with specific demographics. Cybersecurity analyst also work to include different individuals of demographics into the cybersecurity field to promote diversity. By accomplishing this may inspire people of the same demographics to pursue a career in cybersecurity which increases the availability of cybersecurity help for companies, businesses, organizations, industries, corporations and even individuals. Cybersecurity analysts also strive to spread awareness toward marginalized groups and society of the dangers of the internet and the basics of cybersecurity. Cybersecurity analyst teach individuals on how to protect themselves from threats and risks as well as ensure they’re safety online. By doing this will result in society becoming more informed on internet security which could deter hackers from engaging in cybercrime. 

Conclusion

In conclusion, cybersecurity analysts have an important role of analyzing computer systems, reporting results and strive to fix vulnerabilities and start risk management, implementing security tools and plans, and educating employees on cybersecurity. Cybersecurity analysts research hackers’ reasons to engaging in cybercrime, their influences from peers, social media, and enviroments, and new trends and issues of cybersecurity to predict and expect hackers behavior and motives. They contribute to marginalized groups and society by providing cybersecurity help, encouraging diversity in the cybersecurity field, and teaching cybersecurity toward society.
