Service-Learning Project Reflection #2
For this service-learning project, we are doing the topic of vaccines. We’ve gotten all our information gathered and since the last date we turned in the first reflection we’ve condensed it all into a lesson plan. With this lesson plan we were able to join all of our topics and towards the end we are creating a game called Kahoot. Along with this we have also finalized the questions for the handout created as well as the flyer to give to the students in high school that are attending. There was concern of how the questions would tie into the presentation as a whole but as we got together to present these concerns were quickly diminished.
A few weeks ago, we were instructed to do a dress rehearsal to show how much we’d gotten done and how prepared we were. I think that this rehearsal went very well, and we were able to fully present while also receiving feedback. The feedback received from the professor was very informational and I have already taken it into account to finalize my portion of the project. It was also useful to be able to see how the presentation played out time wise as well as speaking. I know I need to slow down when speaking about my topic and organize the information better to match the slide visual. Ultimately, I need to rework the wording of my notes and make my portion just a little longer. I am also going to work to get the video I had to play at the end of my portion just on the off chance that it isn’t able to play.
