When it comes to the storing of electronic information for individuals, there are issues related to ethics that could arise. Of the many issues that may pose at a threat to the personal information of an individual, there are four primary issues of ethics that could be detrimental to the safety of cyber resources. The first question of ethics would be inappropriate use of data. The integrity of those handling the sensitive information of another individual is of the highest priority. When authorizing personnel to provide cyber services such as the storing and transmission of information, there are standards, protocols, and policies in place to ensure that the hired personnel are qualified and responsible enough to manage the task of interacting with valuable intel. If the individuals who are handling sensitive intel are corrupt or have malicious intentions, they could compromise the information of the individuals they are working for as well as jeopardize the agency or company that employed them. The second issue of ethics is the accuracy and completeness of data collection. When gathering information for an individual it is critical that all the information collected, reflects the true the nature of the subject that is being assessed. If the information is not accurate, then the resources may not be as effective as they could be, or the use of the resource will no longer be applicable. When it comes to cyber imprints, the impressions that are made over the internet are permanent and infinitely accessible. Once an impression has been made it could be virtually impossible to change it, especially if the information is so sensitive that special privileges are required to alter the status and details of the data. Once the information is sent, a version of that information has been casted for anyone to access. If those who depend on the validity of the information receive inaccurate data, their operations may not be fulfilled. The third issue of ethics when it comes to personal cyber information is the availability of data. The right people should have the appropriate access to the right resources. Anyone else who is not authorized should not gain access to the data, for if they do, they could expose valuable resources to hackers or unintentionally leave an opening for information to be leaked to those who should not have access. The fourth ethical issue of storing electronic information, is the most important. It is the issue of confidentiality. Ensuring that private information stays private, is the most common concern for all enterprises and individuals. This had been the motivating force behind cybersecurity professionals. Once the security and privacy of information has been achieved, the threat of unethical cyber conduct will be virtually nonexistent.
