Computers have been one of the best technological advancements that have ever been innovated. They have changed the very societal status quo that so many elders have become accustomed to. Computers have become integrated in all areas of our life but just like anything there are a series of cons to accompany the pros that are brought about by an innovation. For one, the ease of access to information has revolutionized the way in which people expand their minds and receive information. Online forums serve as places in which people can provide solutions to commonly experienced issues and difficulties, all to be found in one consolidated location. By the same token, this open access to information can be dangerous. Many users of computers tend to over share, not realizing that once they publish their information to the internet it is available for any and every one to access. Hackers can obtain the sensitive information of unwitting civilians and could steal their identity without them knowing. Once their information is compromised their social security and other comparable information can be held for ransom. As humans are naturally inclined to travel and explore various foreign territories and remote locations, inevitably their loved ones lose sight of them. When away from those who care for them, computers can provide a level of comfort. Sharing location makes it so that friends and family can check to see if their loved one is safe or at least where they are supposed to be. On the opposite end of the spectrum, computers have made it so that stalkers can find the location of the victim they are attempting to prey on. This could be quite the dangerous situation for the parties involved if the wrong individuals gain access to location sharing. Another pro that is especially helpful due to the innovation of computers, is our ability to effectively communicate with one another. We are now able to communicate from different people from all over the world simultaneously while be able to break past the cultural barriers that once separated so many of us. Through the mediums of social networks, instant messaging, and video chatting, communication is at an all-time high. Inversely, this innovation has opened the opportunity for malicious users to exploit the avenue of effective communication. Cyber bullies sometimes chose to abuse the privilege of cyber spaces and attack users. Instances like these have been so extreme that they have led to the loss of life. Occurrences like these are very unfortunate events, but the outlook on the usage of computers is so much broader than what those who chose to misuse them make it.
