This Paired Text Guide examines the historical event of the Tulsa Race Massacre through the pairing of the nonfiction text Blackbirds in the Sky by Brandy Colbert and the fiction novel Angel of Greenwood by Randi Pink. This guide provides teachers with a variety of access points for students to engage with the topic, multiple opportunities to engage in the inquiry process, and several modalities to demonstrate their learning.
