In exploring the Sandbox tools this week, I noticed that I was already familiar with many of them. Loom was one of my favorite tools for distance learning. It is a great and pretty easy-to-use tool to screen record, and I loved that my face could still be in the corner of the video while I was teaching or explaining an assignment. Loom’s editing features are an added plus that Zoom doesn’t have in their screen recording feature. I also love that Loom allows students to “react” during the video with different emojis.
Prezi is another great tool that I used a lot during grad school for my teaching degree and continued to use for open house presentations through my teaching career. I used it more with the presentation side, though, rather than the video side, so it was nice to have some background knowledge of Prezi while exploring it’s video features. I’ll definitely mess around with this one in the future for my video making needs.
Stop Action Animation is something that I, personally, don’t have the patience for (especially when thinking about what my ideal outcome would be), but I have seen some excellent work with Stop Action from students in the past. I think this tool would be great for a Makerspace in the library.
As I was exploring the tools, I remembered that I was craving brownies, so I decided on making a how-to video for some ooey-gooey brownies. After filming myself making the brownies, I *tried* to upload all my clips onto Kapwing, as it seemed like the best tool to edit my video, but for whatever reason, I kept getting an error when uploading. Enter, my trusty iPad. I have briefly dabbled with iMovie in the past, so I decided to take another stab at it. I couldn’t figure out how to get my entire clip in frame, it cropped each clip, so I will definitely play around with this program more in the future. All in all, I’m pretty happy with my brownie video (and the brownies). Enjoy!
I loved your brownie video. I agree about Stop Motion. I think the kids would love it, but it would make me crazy trying to get it right!
I also loved using loom this year. I find it is more user friendly than screencastify. Your brownie video made me hungry!
You and I had very similar experiences with this week’s video tools. And now I’m craving brownies! Wonderful job on your video. The music was soothing, the batter was mouth-watering, and you did an excellent job speeding up some steps. Bravo!
Oooh, thanks for pointing out the students ability to leave reactions with Loom! I had missed that!
