Sandbox #1

After playing around with all the different options to create a word cloud, I ended up circling back to the first tool, Wordart. I was drawn to the freedom in customization options on this one. I was able to choose two different fonts in my word cloud with this tool. ABCya Word Cloud also gave customization tools, but I had more fun playing in Wordart.

Word Clouds are a good tool to use in the classroom. As a teacher librarian, there could be many prompts to get each student to choose a word or two (possibly from a word bank for consistency) as a response. For example: if I am trying to get students to think about character traits from a book character, this would be a great way to visually show students what the group collectively came up with. Or, I can visualize myself using this to create a visual of favorite book titles that students select from a survey or a Google Form. Again, I think I may narrow down the scope to specific genres, but it would be an interesting way to display information.
