Joint-Use Library, Virginia Beach


This assignment involved visiting a local library to critically evaluate its services, programs, accessibility, space, location, and integration with its surroundings. For this task, the chosen site was the Joint-Use Library, a unique collaboration between Tidewater Community College and the Virginia Beach Public Library. This visit provided an opportunity to observe firsthand the benefits of combining academic and public library resources to cater to a diverse range of users, from students to the general public. Insights were gained through discussions with library staff and personal interaction with the facility’s offerings, highlighting the innovative partnership model’s role in enhancing library services and community engagement. The assignment culminates in a presentation that reflects on the visit’s contributions to the student’s professional growth and understanding of library operations.
