Garcia, R. (2022, February 23). A first year librarian’s first service. ACRLog. https://acrlog.org/page/2/

This blog entry was really interesting because it came from a librarian who is in his first year as a librarian. He talks about what his favorite aspect of working as a librarian is, and I thought this was an excellent article because it gives some perspective on what it’s like to work with students in an academic library.

Johnson, P. (2022, April 12). How to flip your library’s collections—visiting project chaos. Public Libraries Online. http://publiclibrariesonline.org/2022/04/how-to-flip-your-librarys-collections-visiting-project-chaos/

This article talks about how one library was able to make the most our of their space and all at the request of their patrons. This is a great source to show how willing librarians are to listen to the needs of their community, and how they were able to take some of their spaces and make them extra special so that the library could be more successful. This article also shows how libraries do impact their community.

Sutherland, S. (2022, 24 March). Uplifting the LGBTQ+ community at #PLA2022. ALSC Blog. https://www.alsc.ala.org/blog/2022/03/uplifting-the-lgbtq-community-at-pla2022/

This blog article is talks about how one public library became a library system that was set on being very inclusive and anti-bias. I love that this article brought attention to such an important topic about inclusivity for all communities, cultures, and people in the library!

This is Virginia’s library association page. Since I am from Virginia and hopefully plan to be a librarian in Virginia, this website is an important tool in showing what is going on in Virginia libraries; it is also an important resource for jobs, as well as showing upcoming events that are relevant librarians and patrons across Virginia.

ExLibris A ProQuest Co. Three Trends Shaping the Future of Libraries. Library Journal. https://www.libraryjournal.com/story/three-trends-future

Library Journal is a publication that delivers articles about library related media. This particular article talks about future trends that will be happening in the library, as well as why they are important like digital services, budgets and what they’re doing to make libraries better, and the tools that libraries will have to use to help them serve patrons better.

This is a great resource to find book reviews, as well as book lists for children’s books as well as young adult books. They also information and reviews on games, movies, television shows, as well as a category for what parents need to know pertaining to whatever their children are choosing to read, play, or watch.

https://www.yalsa.ala.org/thehub/

This is a great resource to find book lists and other information to help find books that kids and teens want to read. My favorite resource is the quick picks for reluctant readers lists that show all the books that would interest children who may not be interested in reading. Their picks are listed by the year, so librarians can go through and look at what may interest their young readers.

https://www.scholastic.com

When I think of libraries and children, I think of Scholastic, especially the book fair that I adored when I was a child. This website is great resource for any librarian in schools or public libraries, as well as teachers. It has books for sale, news, and a section that is dedicated to scholastic librarians, which provides resources for librarians as well as different types of collections and media.
