Library of Things

We explored the concept and development of a Library of Things.  A Library of Things contains non-traditional items to borrow from the library, such as kitchenware, lawn equipment, pc/tech devices, toys, and or other items. Ultimately, it is the community’s needs that drive the collection of the Library of Things. I was asked to provide a mini collection and reflection points of a Library of Things based upon my community’s specific wants. After assessing the demographics and interests, I chose 10 large backyard family games to populate the collection. This collection was durable, relevant for skills building, age appropriate/safe for families, and rated highly for fun.  At the conclusion of the effort, I provided the assessment to my library.  Happily, they are sharing my work with the Board of Directors to determine next steps.
