This effort focused on creating a Diversity Audit of books at Demarest Public Library. It required judging a book by its cover or multiple books as the case may be. In doing so, I took a sampling of picture books (the “T” author section) and determining if the cover depicted diverse and inclusive characters. The categories for assessment looked at species, gender, race, ability etc. I also researched demographic data for the community to compare to my book covers. Then I compiled, and assessed my data to show findings in graphs along with textual conclusions.
