Great job Corin! I was just here on Thursday. I visited Meyera E. Oberndorf Central Library after I visited Kempsville Library, trying to find something interesting (outside) to write about. Like you, I was disappointed with the lack of outdoor seating areas and the fact that neither Library had braille to accommodate visually impaired patrons. I ended up presenting on the Joint-Use Library on Princess Anne at TCC. They also do not have any braille but they do have several outdoor seating areas. Thanks for sharing your presentation! You did an awesome job!
Nice presentation, Corin! What a modern building! I think it looks like a school, but it does kind of look like a museum, too. I love all the windows! Reading in natural light is the best! I noted that you said they did not have anything in braille, but did they have anything in other languages? The art sculpture is really cool! Is it from a local artist? I think the library I reviewed in my town should have more signage about the library itself and the area, since it is a big Civil War city. I like that this library had the sign about the history of the area. I think I would enjoy exploring in this library!
Corin, I really enjoyed your presentation! My library also lacked outdoor seating and none of the signs were in braille either. Nice to see the details of other libraries in different areas of the state.
I agree that your library looks like a museum! Also- your pictures look very professional. There was no outdoor seating by my library either which I found strange. As far as accessibility, it seems that many of us have been disappointed in the offerings of the facilities. This is very significant as Rubin and Rubin often states that libraries are to serve humanity.. and there is an entire group of people that are left out already when just looking at the exterior. Great presentation! I really enjoyed it.
