I agree that the template options on Canva can be really intense! I think that when we are working with students, it might be useful to have a couple of templates to suggest (or create our own to use). I can see students spending way too much time on the part where they select a template!
I actually like the first infographic a lot, because the numbers really visually pop. It draws your attention to the right places. My guess is that both infographics could be used to serve different purposes. The first highlights this year, while the second makes comparisons. I think the second would be even more powerful if the graphs were larger. At first glance, I thought the people were describing the graph.
I love that you looked for images that would best represent the students in your school. Unfortunately, it is so often the case that those images just do not exist in nearly enough quantity or quality 🙁
I agree about being overwhelmed with choices. On one hand, it’s great to have so much variety to choose from, but on the other hand, it’s a bit paralyzing to try to decide which one is the one that suits the purpose the best.
Audra makes a great point. Students are going to spend the majority of their time fiddling with templates and trying to decide which one they want to use. Narrowing the selection down for them ahead of time would help them to focus on the task at hand.
I wasn’t able to enlarge your infographics to read the details, despite my best CSI “Enhance!” measures of zooming in on them, but the colors are eye-catching and remind me of the color palette of Goodnight Moon. 🙂
