I listened to your narrative presentation and I enjoyed your explanation of the outside of the Martha Washington Library. I liked your description of the architecture and how it was modern architecture with clean lines but it had a cold feeling using metal such as on the benches and how the entrance looked like a truck/rest stop. I definitely felt that way too. The rain garden and book walk was a nice way to warm up the library’s exterior and provide an environmental connection.
I definitely agreed that the exterior of the library building feels cold due to the construction materials and colors as well as those uncomfortable looking benches, but I absolutely loved how creative and interesting everything else is! I bet children have a lot of fun with all of the activities on the sidewalk and sensory leaves and the book walk! My library is probably the exact opposite, with a warm looking building and nothing fun or interesting for kids on the outside. I think if we had cool special features like that many more people would visit the library!
What a beautiful park-like setting. I absolutely love the book walk idea! This looks like a fun place I’d take my children to so they can learn and explore the outdoors. Thanks for sharing!
