Forward with Fonts!

Who knew a font could tell so much about a person? Apparently, I’m a “Coraline” theme.  Somewhat surprising to me, I choose a much more casual theme then my usual professional presentational self. Especially in a grad school course and something that I will potentially be using in future job interviews. But hear me out, I feel like I will be working and living in this e-portfolio for the next 16 months and opening up a page with a corporate feel just doesn’t feel right. The ODU MLIS program is an act of love for me. The “Coraline” theme offered me a design that mixed warmth with clarity.

  1. I agree; I think we need to have some fun with something that we will be visiting so frequently. I also feel like a “fun” font is okay because I want the library to be a fun place for my students to visit. I’ve never felt like the library should be a place where students are shushed and asked to be super quiet. I think it should be a busy place with some buzz about it. I will use reader friendly “fun” fonts in my portfolio as well!

  2. Coraline is one of the themes I considered, too. I’m not completely sold on the one I chose (Dyad), so Coraline may get another look from me after all. But for you, isn’t it sort of fated by spelling? CArOline and COrAline? 🙂

  3. Ha ha ha! I kind of love that there’s a Coraline theme! good justification. I can see that there are comments to your blog but I am unable to read them so I won’t be able to give your classmates credit. Can you figure out how to make comments public? Maybe they are just awaiting your moderation.

    1. So truth be told, Coraline wasn’t meant to be…either was the Arcade Block, which was the actual template I was using. Neither one allowed for the comments to show. So another appropriate theme came through for me “Afterlight.” Also while I was changing the theme I changed the background image and took out the “Header” image that was a picture of the painted lockers outside the Whitman Middle School library. I changed the background photo to a picture I took of the Woodrow Wilson Bridge and our local exit. I have settled on my common theme of “home” for this blog.
