Curation tools are great for keeping organized and taking your ideas, notes, and information anywhere you go.
I explored Evernote and found many benefits to this tool. Evernote offers three subscriptions with varying access. There is a free option, which is the option I explored. The free option of Evernote allows the user to keep notes on upcoming events or meetings. It also gives the user a Scratchpad option, which can allow users to easily jot down ideas, like for library lessons or even books. One aspect I really like is the Web Clips tool. This allows users to clip information from the web that the user would like to save, so the user does not have to bookmark the webpage. I also really like the Shared with Me tool, which allows users to share notes, ideas, or information with other Evernote users. This would be useful for school librarians to share lessons, lesson ideas, books, articles, and so on. I focused on Evernote for work, but it can also be used for school or home. If the user would like access to the finer options, like marking up PDF documents or integrating with Microsoft Teams, then the user needs a paid subscription.
I also explored Pinterest. Pinterest allows users to see an abundance of ideas from other Pinterest users, who could be from anywhere around the world. If a user likes lots of ideas from another user, then they can ‘follow’ that user to see new ideas posted. Users can also pin anything they like and want to review again at a later time. Another great aspect about Pinterest, is the varying ideas located there. A user could pin unique library ideas, or how to organize your library ideas, or more personal ideas, like recipes for healthy eating. One aspect that Evernote offers that Pinterest does not is the Web Clips tool. Pinterest users can create their own pin, which may include web content, but it seems more complicated than the Web Clips tool from Evernote.
I love your words on Pinterest. I explored that one also but I was so focused on using these tools as the student that I missed some of these good points you brought up! I feel like all of my focus has been discovering tools and using them in the patron capacity and I missed out on exploring these in the eyes of a librarian! haha silly me!
