As a future MLIS professional I am focused on the importance of service to others, promoting life-long learning and fostering community trust by encouraging social responsibility through Librarianship.
PTPL – A professional networking tool used by its members to network among professional peers who work in library technical services. This is a platform to share information among its members, have annual meetings, and offer opportunities for educational scholarships. It provides collaborative options among professionals with mutual interests who seek access to platforms, blogs, reviews, and trending hot topics within the library. I first attended a PTPL conference in 2015 as a guest, when I wasn’t a member and learned about the many opportunities available for networking and educational help. This is a great resource for technical service staff and librarians.
ALA Connect- This is a division of the American Library Association which provides valuable resources to its members allowing them to register for classes and events, and participate in the divisions, sections, and interest groups of ALA. RUSA (2022) Logo ala.org/rusa/sections“United for Libraries is a national network of enthusiastic library supporters who believe in the importance of libraries as the social and intellectual centers of communities and campuses.”(ala.org) Because I believe strongly in the cause I am a supporter. This resource plays an important role in the community to help foster the core values of librarianship. Without the community’s support and donations libraries will not survive. This gives me the opportunity to learn and grow and engage with like-minded individuals supporting a great cause.

(LRTS) is a journal of the Association for Library Collections and Technical Services (ALCTS). It was created in 1957 until 2020. In 2020 the name was changed, and it is now known as Core. Core provides information regarding cataloging, acquisitions, digitization and collections management. You can also find peer-reviewed research papers, book reviews, letters to the editor and information that is helpful to libraries regarding operations. “In the 140 years since it was created, Library Journal has been inspired by the belief that libraries transform lives, at every stage of life.”(libraryjournal.com) This resource provides a global network between its members in the United States and is part of the original building blocks of Libraries nationwide. It identifies trending topics in libraries and provides best practices that are used by libraries globally. I use this journal to stay informed of current topics in the library, how library spaces are being transformed and to find the latest technology being used in libraries.
