Hello! My name is Charlene Slaughter-Nibblins. I am a MLIS candidate at Old Dominion University. I have the desire as a life-long learner to help myself and others achieve their personal educational goals. This desire stems from my love for reading and trying to learn something new every day.<\/p>
I am a first-generation college graduate. While working in an Academic Library, I was able to obtain a bachelor\u2019s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Liberty University. This is due in part to not knowing what I wanted to concentrate on as an area of study. Working in the library has provided me with the opportunity to experience a new world to explore daily within the stacks, learn to appreciate people from all levels of society while providing customer service, and become more engaged in community outreach with eyes not blinded by my own bias or others.<\/p>
With this MLIS degree I will be able to better serve others who seek help within the library. I will feel confident in knowing that I have done all that I could to provide a positive experience for all who I interact with daily.<\/p>
On a personal note, I not only spend all my free time reading but I enjoy gardening and tending to a house full of plants. I can count at least three plants in every room of my home. I also like to golf, play tennis, and go to baseball games.<\/p>
