Hi. My name is Julie Drewry. I grew up in Roanoke, Virginia and attended Roanoke City Public Schools. I have been working in education for the past 29 years. After earning a B.S. in Mathematics at the College of William and Mary and doing work towards a master\u2019s degree in Mathematics at North Carolina State University, I taught mathematics at the Roanoke Valley Governor\u2019s School for 12 years. During that time, I earned a Master of Education in Administration and Supervision from the University of Virginia and National Board Certification in Adolescent\/Young Adult Mathematics.<\/p>\n
I began my career in administration as an Assistant Principal at Patrick Henry High School in Roanoke. During my three years there, I earned a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from Virginia Tech. After leaving Patrick Henry High School, I became the Director of the Jackson River Governor\u2019s School for one year. I then returned to Roanoke City Schools, where I served as the K-12 Mathematics Supervisor for three years. After that, I was the Executive Director for Secondary Instruction for 2 years and the Executive Director of School Improvement for Roanoke City Schools for 7 years. For the past two years, I have served as the Executive Director for Research, Accountability, and Assessment. For the coming year, I am also tacking on Interim Supervisor of Mathematics to my title.<\/p>\n
I am married to my wonderful husband, Lee. We have an awesome Rottendoodle named Bogart. I love to run, cook, watch movies, travel, paddle board, play handbells, and of course, read.<\/p>\n
Because of my love of books and reading, combined with years of working in the public schools, I am looking forward to a career as a librarian in a middle or high school.<\/p>\n
