Final Research Proposal: Uncovering Archival Silences and Investigating Institutional Initiatives to Ensure Diverse and Inclusive Collections

This Final Research Proposal was the culmination of a semester-long project for the course LIBS 612: Research Methods in Library & Information Studies. Through this project, I learned about basic and applied research, research methods and research designs. I chose to address the topic of archival silences in my research proposal; an issue that is vitally important for us to recognize and work to correct as information professionals. Following a qualitative research design, I sought to investigate these archival erasures in my present place of employment and though reviewing literature and case studies pertaining to other cultural heritage institutions with a goal of understanding what methods are being employed to ensure that our collections are diverse, inclusive and representative of historically marginalized groups.
