Impact Project – Barry Art Museum Internship

The time I spent completing my internship at the Barry Art Museum in Norfolk, Virginia afforded me the opportunity to gain valuable experience in the field of collections management. As a current employee at the Chrysler Museum of Art, it is my professional goal to remain in a museum setting working with special collections. During the course of my internship, I learned how to update and maintain the TMS (The Museum System) database and how to enter new acquisitions and constituent records, all necessary skills for working in museum registration. My impact project centered around creating and entering the object and artist records for a significant donation of art to the Barry Art Museum and assisting with research regarding this particular donation and for existing objects in the collection that needed additional information added in TMS.
