Resources

As a student in the MLIS program, I have come to realize that the importance of libraries, the roles librarians have in the community, and how setting goals can lead to achieving great things. The following selected resources will help me increase my knowledge in the librarianship profession, the issues and developments of libraries, and insights from different librarians that can bring about ideas in which to better libraries.

The Public Library Association (PLA), a branch of American Library Association, is dedicated to supporting the needs of public library professionals. My goal is to become a public librarian and this resource will help me to learn and grow professionally. I can use the PLA website to use the references provided for research as I continue in the MLIS program.

Librarian to Librarian

Librarian to Librarian is a blog in which librarians discuss library-related issues, current topics, and book reviews in order to bring about new insight and ideas on library themes. I can learn from different librarians about the issues that happen within libraries and can see the different perspectives the librarians have on them. You can learn a lot from others and gain ideas that can influence your ideas on librarianship, which I have seen in the MLIS program so far.
